William ROSE and his family are a big mystery. I know that he was the Father of John ROSE, as to where they came from I have no idea. John ROSE was living in Sheffield at the time of his marriage in 1855 when he married Martha PADLEY, he was a labourer, in the next 5 years, they had 2 children before John died of Typhoid Fever in 1860, just weeks after the birth of his daughter Ann Elizabeth ROSE. John gave his age as 23 years old and Martha was down as been 24 years at the time of their marriage. He was just 29 years when he died. Martha and John's first daughter was called Fanny A born C1858. In the 1861 Martha was listed as a washerwoman, she then remarried to Thomas LIDDLE in 1864. As far as we can find out to date there was no more children for Martha. Martha died in 1875. What became of Fanny A ROSE is unknown. Ann Elizabeth ROSE married Thomas GEARY in Stockton on Tees Yorkshire, at the Catholic Church. As she was born in Sheffield it is unknown what she was doing there. Was her sister still alive? Martha PADLEY indicates on the 1861 census that she was born in Sheffield and her Father was William PADLEY.
