                 DEWAR FAMILY

David DEWAR was born in Glasgow, Scotland C1835. Who his parents are is not really known at this stage. On his death certificate they are given as James DEWAR and Elizabeth RENNIER but this may be incorrect. David came to Australia pre 1869 at which time he married Christina BRUMBY in Cressy, Tasmania in 1869. He was a carpenter by trade. They had a daughter, Emma Blanche in Tasmania, before moving to Victoria, Emma died on the journey to Victoria as an infant. They had a further 4 sons and a daughter in Victoria with the youngest son Percy, dieing as an infant. They lived for a very short time in NSW where the youngest child Minnie was born. After the marriage of the Elizabeth Janet, the eldest daughter and David James, the eldest son in 1895, the family moved to Western Australia. Elizabeth and her husband stayed in Victoria. David and Christina both died in Western Australia, David in 1904 and Christina in 1932.

David James became a carpenter like his father. He married Sarah Jane WATERTON in 1895. Their eldest child Leslie Albert was born in 1896 in Victoria. 12 more children where born after their arrival in Western Australia. The youngest daughter Ruby Jean died in 1921 as an infant.

Charles McPhee (William) went to France during the 1st World War and was killed 7 days after arriving on the 29 July 1916. He is buried at Villiers-Brentonneux, France. Charles William and  Frank Leslie worked on the railway in Kalgoorlie for a time after first arriving in Western Australia. Frank Leslie also went to World War 1, he was a farmer in the Perenjori area of Western Australia. He lost his wife Dorothy after the birth of their last child Jean. He remarried to Grace Mecan. Frank died in 1934 in Moora, Western Australia.

Minnie married Walter KINNOMONT had a shop in William Street, Perth. She had 4 children. Elizabeth Janet, Minnie's eldest sister did not see much of her family after her marriage. She stayed in Victoria, where her husband Walter WATKINS who was a butcher. She had 3 children.
